Pratapgarh: Nine Congress Workers have been arrested for alleged attacking MP Pratapgarh BJP Sangam Lal Gupta, police said on Wednesday.
Uttar Pradesh: Congress and BJP supporters clashed during ‘Garebeb Kalyan Mela’ in Pratapgarhacting on complaints by Gupta, security officers and party workers, the police have submitted five cases against the leader of the Tiwari Pramod Congress, Mla Aradhana Misra and their supporters.
During the “Garib Kalyan Mela” held at the Sangipur Block Auditorium on Saturday, a fight broke out among BJP and Congress workers.
On the basis of video recording and eyewitness accounts, nine people were identified and arrested for attacking MP, said Sangipur Sho Tushardutt Tyagi.
Gupta accused Tiwari, a member of the former Parliament of the Congress, led the mass of his party workers to defeat him and his party activists during government functions.
MP BJP accused that the incident occurred when he and his party worker reached the venue, where Tiwari sat in Dais.
“Seeing me, Tiwari and his supporters first began to shout at me and BJP workers accompanied me.
Then, they grew hard and attacked us.
They hit me and tear my kurta,” he said.
However, the congress denied the allegations flattened by MP BJP and demanded a judicial investigation into this issue.
