Varanasi: The doctor’s team at the Cardiology Department of the Institute of Medical Sciences, the University of Banaras Hindu (IMS-BHU), led by Prof.
Om Shankar on Saturday saved a life of a 35-year-old woman who suffered a rare heart disease after conducting a difficult angioplasty procedure on time.
Prof.
Shankar said that the condition of the woman, who came from Azamgarh, was very severe so she could not even walk a few steps without an irresistible chest, the jaw and lower leg pain.
All symptoms point to serious heart disease.
He has completed his angiography at a private hospital, which revealed the condition of a serious heart disease, was also difficult to treat locally, so he was referred to the Department of Cardiology Sir Sunderlal Hospital, Bhu.
According to Prof.
Shankar, his angiography revealed that the most important artery of the left side of the Heart (main ogrial left), was seen narrowed to the structure such as thread.
This type of heart disease is considered the most serious and many people who face similar conditions often become victims of death prematurely because of a sudden heart attack.
He said that considering the severity of the disease, only two treatments were possible in this case.
Either the patient must undergo an open heart (bypass) operation, which will be expensive, or must be handled with angioplasty, which is followed in this case.
“We decided to do angioplasty to him, which was a very challenging task,” he said, adding that the arterial condition was difficult to negotiate through cables.
Then position and alignment of blood vessels in such a way that it is also enough assignment to determine where placing the stent.
Even a few mistakes in this procedure can cost the patient’s life in minutes.
Finally, the narrow ship opened with the help of cables, balloons, and stents by inserting the needle into the hand arteries.
As soon as the angioplasty patient becomes really healthy, it is also without an incision and only at the cost of Rs 50,000, he said.
