Kanpur: The first patient of the Zika virus in Uttar Pradesh has been found in Kanpur.
The expert team from Delhi has reached the Kanpur and samples from those who come into contact with patients have been sent to be examined to Pune.
A 57-year-old warranty officer was treated at the Air Force Hospital.
He went down with a fever for the past four-five days.
The sample was sent to Pune for an inspection where the Zika virus was confirmed.
Patients have sons and daughters, who live in Pune and Bengaluru.
The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Naipal Singh has formed two teams to examine the spread of the virus.
A team led by ACMO Dr.
Subodh Prakash went to Pardevanpur Pokharpur where a sample of 22 people who came into contact with his wife and sons and daughters in the family were taken.
The second team examined 7 Air Force Hospital.
Samples of all those who come into contact with patients have been taken and they have been isolated, said CMO Singh.
Kanpur District Magistrate Vishak G said that all necessary steps were taken considering the confirmation of the first positive Zika patient.
The medical doctor’s emergency meeting and the city team had been called.
The Kanpur city team has been asked to do fogging.
“Preventif steps are being taken.
Viruses do not spread like Covid-19.
This is a vector-borne like a dengue fever,” DM added.
