Karwar: The coast of Uttara Kannada faces a situation like an unprecedented flood for the past two days with times, the Gangavali River and Aghanashini in the Spate.
Even though there was no rain on the beach, heavy rains on the plains, near Yellapur, had brought havoc in the district.

District administration, with the help of the Navy, Coast Guard, Police, SDRF and NDRF, saved many people in Karwar and Ankola Taluk.
The district receives 224mm rainfall against normal 34mm.
Deputy Commissioner Mullai Mugilan said 79 villages were affected and two people died.
Mugilan and police supervisor Shivaprakash Devaraju said there was a situation like a flood at the bottom edge of the Dam Kadra on the river times and on both sides of the Gangavali River.
Even though the water level on the Aghanashini river rises, the situation is controlled, said DC.
DC added that the situation on the banks of banks worsened after heavy rains in the basin.
There was an inflow of 1.5 lakh cusec to the Dam Kadra and 2.1 lakh cusecs to the Kodasalli Dam.
The flow of water times is very heavy and to maintain the level in both dams, water is released.
Five naval ships, helicopters, two Tim SDRF and the NDRF team 20 members evacuated people, he added.
