Vadodara: walk through the holy room where the legendary painter King Ravi Varma has splashed canvas with bright colors and creating some of his best works, will soon come true.
The extensive studio is located in the middle of a lush green environment from the Laxmi Vilas Palace complex where the Varma used to paint has been fully refurbished by the Royal Gaekwad family.
And they want to turn it into tourist attractions.
“This is a legacy like Varma, one of the greatest artists, which is used to make his paintings in this studio.

The studio was in a dilapidated condition for years and the roof was almost collapsed.
In 2014, Gaekwad decided to take a renovation of the structure.

The single-storey studio has opened bricks and roofs covered with ground tiles while the beam inside holding the roof is made fully wood.

This renovation is funded together by the Indira Gandhi National Art Center (Igna) who has an office at the Maharaja Fatehsinghrao Museum.
“For a period of three years, Igna will have an office in this studio.

The renovation of the studio began in February last year but the project was delayed due to covid pandemics.
