Vadodara: With Covid-19 spread much faster in the third wave than in two previous waves, administration is looking to increase inpatient capacity at a fast speed.
The hospital bed needs in the end may not be as high as in the previous waves, but the need for this bed will appear very quickly.
Officials held an oxygen and ventilator audit in two largest Covid-19 treatment facilities – Gmers Gotri Hospital and SSG Hospital.
A similar audit is underway for private hospitals.
Hostel Samras on the University M campus is also turned on for future needs.
The secretary responsible for the Vadodara district, Vinod Rao said that the spread of Covid-19 is expected to be exponentially high this time.
“It might not give us a pillow to prepare more beds.
We may not need 10,000 beds like the second wave, but the need for beds will be sudden and steep,” Rao said, showing that the government was preparing the worst scenario.
Officials also see ways to ensure that the workforce is quite available at any time, which remains the main challenge.
For Sanjeevani SEVA RATH who carry out door-to-door treatments from Covid patients, the doctor’s application has been invited.
This doctor’s list will remain useful and they will be given an appointment only when the need arises.
Even if inpatient stays low, the opening of the hospital flooded with patients is not ruled out.
For this tide, said Rao, the Dhanvantari Rath and Sanjeean Seva Rath system is being reinforced.
Also, the number of teams that conducted a door-to-door survey of patients with symptoms has increased from 74 to 750.
