FRANKFURT: Germany’s Varta AG will provide high energy battery cells into luxury sportscar maker Porsche AG, a spokesperson for your battery manufacturer said.
Varta will provide its V4Drive battery mobile to this Volkswagen AG unit, said the spokesperson, who declined to be specific.
Varta mentioned last month it had obtained a very first client from the automotive industry, but hadn’t revealed the provider’s identity.
The information was reported by Handelsblatt.
European carmakers want to cut reliance on Asian mobile suppliers since they roll out all-electric versions to meet stricter emissions goals from the European Union.
Porsche on Sunday said it’s establishing a joint venture together with Customcells to make high-performance batteries which will considerably lower charging times.
