Kolkata: All covid vaccination centers attached to hospitals managed by the state government will continue with the inoculation of drives during the Dura Puja, except Ashtami.
All hospitals are asked to make a list for their own vaccination team so anyone who appears in the centers get Jab.
In Ashtami, OPD services will also be closed for a day.
Health officials said that footsteps in the centers would likely fall sharply during the five-day celebration because the recipient himself might not want to take Jab during this period.
But they will remain open to anyone who comes to take a shot.
“Because footsteps are likely to drop sharply during the festival, the hospital can reduce the number of sites depending on the response.
But they must maintain the inoculation to push hope in Ashtami,” said a senior health official.
“Chances are we might get fewer recipients of the first dose.
But people who are the second dose maturing are likely to appear.
We will offer Jab to the recipient category,” said the Sanjib Bandyopadhyay community medical specialist, vaccination coordinator at the Belowaghata Hospital.
On Tuesday, Bengal crossed the mark 6 crore when around 10 lakh doses were given.
Even though Wednesday became a holiday because of Mahalahaya, the State Health Department vaccinated 3 lakh peple of 1,460 government sites.
