Jodhpur / Jaipur: Veterans of the Congress and former Minister Mahipal Maderna (69), were accused of kidnapping and the murder of Bhanwari Devi who was sensational, died on Sunday morning.
He had been diagnosed with cancer and inhaled the latter at his residence in Jodhpur at around 6:30 a.m.
Mla twice, Maderna has spent 10 years in prison after alleged involvement in the case of Bhanwari Devi in 2011.
He was diagnosed with the malignancy of Stage IV in his oral cavity and had undergone the first treatment in Mumbai and then Chennai.
The Rajasthan High Court has provided a temporary guarantee in September last year.
Because of deteriorating health, he was given a permanent guarantee in August this year.
He survived his wife Leela Maderna, who was elected Jodhpur Zila Pramukh in September 2021, while his daughter Divya Maderna has represented the assembly segment of Osian in Jodhpur since 2018.
CM Ashok Gehlot, Head of PCC Singh Dotasra, MLA Tonk Sachin Pilot and Governor of West Bengal Jagdeep Dhankar their condolences on Twitter.
“His body has been taken to the village of Parentnya Chadi in the Subdivision of Jodhpur and the funeral will be held at night”, said Ram Prakash, a family friend.
Doyen Congress, the late Parasram Maderna, he was fired on October 16, 2011, a few days after he was arrested for alleged role in the kidnapping and murder of Devi.
After serving as Jodhpur Zila Pramukh for 17 years, Maderna was seen as the only challenge for the Hegemony of Ashok Gehlot.
“His body was sent to light up in his ancestral village Chadi in Osian subdivisi in Jodhpur at night with the honor of the state.
He suffered a malignancy of Phase IV in his oral cavity and had undergone treatment after entering the hospital first in Mumbai and then Chennai,” said Ram Prakash , a family friend.
Minister of Forest and Environment Sukhram Bishnoi attended the cemetery representing the state government along with many political leaders, present and past Mlaas, Pradhans and Sarpanches.
Before this, his mortal remnants were taken to Chadi Village in the morning after a brief ceremonial tribute at his residence.
