Veteran ‘dolu’ artist again

Udupi: Kaddayi (Dolu) Teacher Konaga artist, 106, breathed his last here on Sunday.
Incidentally, Sunday (August 22) was observed as the World Folk Story Day.
He has performed at various temple festivals and Kambala events.
During Siriyadka Jatra, Hiriyadka and Paddambuudu Garodi, he used to play drums as religious services.
He came from a humble background.
Even though from Nandikur, he built a house in Guddeangady near Hiriyadka.
At the young age of 12, he took to play the ‘Kaddayi’ basket, agriculture and weaving.
He can play dolu, which weighs 15kg, for about two hours.
He has taught this art to many young people.
Recipients of several awards, he is the oldest son of Thoma and Theme.
