Ahmedabad: A 43-year-old woman Asha worker from the city of Vijapur in the Mehsana district, has been tested positive for the Omicron variant of Covid-19.
The results of the sequencing of the samples arrived on Wednesday night, said the state health department official.
This is the fifth case of a new variant.
The Jamnagar district has reported three omicron cases and letters.
“He did not have a history of travel.
He lost his husband with Cancer recently.
His brother and brother-in-law came from Zimbabwe to attend his BESNA (funeral service).
They have been tested negatively for Covid-19 in the three tests,” said Dr.
Wisnu Patel, CDHO Mehsana.
“The woman’s mother-in-law first developed mild symptoms and was tested positively Covid-19 after that the woman was also tested and found positive.” CDHO added that the woman was in GMers Vadnagar in an isolation environment.
“He is asymptomatic and his condition is stable,” he said.
“According to the protocol, the sample of his mother-in-law was sent for the sequencing of the genome.
Overall, more than 46 contacts of the couple from Zimbabwe and patients have been tracked and tested, but there are no new cases reported so far.”
