Astana: Vincenzo Nibali has rejoined Astana-Premier Tech five years after leaving, said the Kazakh team on Thursday.
Astana announced this 36-year arrival for the 2022 season with a number of Cryptic posts on their social media channels, but they have not said for how long Italy has signed.
Nibali, who has won the three major tours including the 2014 Tour de France while in Astana, initially left the team after four years in 2016, after it also won that season in Giro D’Italia.
He joined Bahrain-Merida (now Bahrain wins) for the 2017 season and then signed with the Segafredo track for the 2020 campaign, however, he could never reinvent the shape he showed under the principal of Astana Alexander Vinokourov.
Nibali’s arrival came when Merhawi Kudus (to EF EDUCATION-NIPPO) and Aleksandr Vlasov (to Bora-Hansgrohe) had left Astana in the near season.
