Lucknow: Head of West Bengal Bengal and All Head of the Indian Trinamool Congress Mamata Banerjee on Monday was all support for the SP Head Akhilesh Yadav and said he wanted to see his party win the election.
The statement came a few minutes before he was a flight from Kolkata to Lucknow on Monday night.
At Lucknow airport, he was given a warm welcome by Akiklesh Yadav and a number of Senior SP leaders, including the Vice President of the Kiranmoy Nanda Party, National Secretary of Rajendra Chaudhary and Naresh Naresh President Uttam Patel.
While Akhilesh welcomed him with bouquets, Mamata presented it with a gift brought from Bengal.
Then Akhilesh tweeted that after they held hands and defeated BJP in West Bengal and promised Didi and they will also defeat them.
In Lucknow, Mamata will discuss a press conference with Akhilesh at SP headquarters on Tuesday and hold a meeting with the TMC unit before he is expected to fly back to Kolkata.
Before going on a flight in Kolkata, Mamata said: “We (TMC) want BJP defeated and Akhilesh to win Uttar Pradesh.
We all have to support it in the war against BJP.
That is the reason we decided not to compete in Uttar Pradesh this time.” He had announced that the party will oppose the next Lok Sabha poll too.
Previously the head of the Samajwadi party said that he wanted to see the Banerjee Mamata campaign for SP because he had defeated BJP by sweeping the assembly election in West Bengal last year.
In this election process, Kiranmay Nanda and SP Rajya Sabha MP Jaya Bachchan campaigned for TMC.
Banerjee also campaigned for SP in the 2017 assembly poll in Lucknow.
