Mandya: After photos of civil workers cleared the open drain in Bellur Village, about 4 km from the city of Mandya, going viral on social media, Panchayat gram officials were asked to submit reports on incidents.
The source says that workers are directed at cleaning open channels with blank hands on Saturdays, and no safety equipment is not provided such as gloves and gumboot.
Mandya Zilla Panchayat (ZP) Divya Prabhu said that he had been looking for a detailed report from the Burned Panchayat Development Officer.
“We must ensure whether civil workers are forced to clear the waste without safety equipment, or if they fail to use it.
Strict legal actions will begin with officials if they are found to have forced workers to clean the gutter,” Divya said.
The villagers accused PDO Suresh inhuman towards civil workers.
They denied reports of civil workers provided safety equipment.
Karnataka President Pouracukara Sangha MB Naganna told TII, “The court has acknowledged the recurring examples of civil workers being treated in an inhuman way.
But the authorities of the citizenship seem to have a little concern about the safety of civil workers.
We cannot accept an explanation of the authority that this incident occurred Accidentally.
Such incidents only proceed to show the arrogant attitude of the officers.
We will file our own complaint to an erring officer from the Belur GP.
