Water from old wells in the city for use for parks

Mangaluru: Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) has taken the initiative to use water available in old wells found in various locations in the city, to irrigate plants in the garden, small gardens in the city and old wells.
Found in the city during the implementation of various development work, through Mangaluru Smart City Limited (MSCL).
The old wells decades in Hampankatta and Rashtrakavi M Govinda Pai Circle were also excavated during development work.
MSCL has restored ‘Appannana Katte Bavi’, found well in Hampankatta, and beautifying areas in the heart of Mangalore City.
Meanwhile, the work of developing a circle of Rashtrakavi M Govinda Pai is taking place, and the old ones found in that place will also be maintained, the Mayor of Premanand Shetty told TII.
“Old wells are found in Hampankatta, when the intersections and roads are developed by MSCL.
People know that the name Hampankatta comes from Appannana Katte Bvi or Well Appanna.
We have preserved and protected wells by developing it and its surroundings.
We have started drawing water from wells, To irrigate the garden on the island of traffic, the median on the east side, and hampankatta intersections.
Likewise, plants on the west side to circle of tower hours, are also irrigated by using water from the well, “Shetty said.
In addition to Hampankatta, City Corporation and MSCL have also found many old wells when digging roads for widening and development of circles.
“The development of the circle of Rashtrakavi M Govinda Pai will be taken, by emphasizing old conservation found at the intersection.
The English era found well in Leewell in 2019 and other parents found in Dongercy, it will also be maintained.
Water from all old wells will be Used to irrigate plants in the park, traffic island, landscapes in the lung room, and median roads in the future.
This will help City Corporation to reduce the use of drinking water for plant irrigation, “said Mayor.
