Kolkata: The Cancer Care Hub (CCH), a collaborative project by the Government of Bengal and Mumbai Memorial Center (TMC), has been opened at the Postgraduate Institute of Education and Medical Research (IPGMER) within seven months after the project was announced by Minister of Mamata Banerjee.
Hub opened the Outpatient Department (OPD) for onko-operations last Tuesday from the temporary location on IPGMER.
Two operations in cancer patients have been carried out.
Services will be expanded by next week when the honorary consultant in different disciplines began to join the hospital.
This project has been taken from even before the construction of buildings for facilities has not started.
In June last year, CM has announced this Joint Venture with TMC for the two hubs – one on IPGMER and one in the North Bengal Medical College in Siliguri.

The committee decided to launch a small scale service at a meeting held in December.
At present, OPD services are available twice a week.

From February 1, we expect the honorary consultant team from various disciplines to come.
We also aim to start the Leukemia processing facility from February 4, “said Oncology radiation head Aloke Ghosh Dastidar, chairman of the committee.
The Honorary Consultant Panel will have on the Alumni of the Memorial Hospital (TMH) which is now based in Kolkata, including Sourav Datta, Abhay Kumar, Kaushik Nandy, Sudip Das and Arindam Mondal.
ONCOLOGY Specialist doctors for head and neck, urology, orthopedics, medical and hematology, gastro-intestinal and chest.
The doctor from TMH will work in close coordination with the IPGMER team on new techniques and knowledge exchange through various training modules.
Construction work in CCH will soon begin while Puja Bhumi is carried out on Friday.
