Kolkata: The West Bengal government on Monday allowed the presence of a 75 percent audience for the T20i series of three matches against West Indies to be played at Eden Gardens, starting February 16.
According to the state government notices issued on Monday “All Indoor and Outdoor Sports activities will be permitted in 75 percent of the venue capacity” which means that there is a crowd of around 50,000 can be expected.
Kieron Pollard-LED West Indies will play three ODIS in Ahmedabad starting February 6 before coming to Kolkata for T20i’s feet.
“We are grateful to the honorable Minister of Mamata Banerjee, the Secretary of the Head and the West West Government to announce the resumption of sports activities and to enable 75 percent of the audience’s capacity to return to the stadium,” said President Cabs Avehek Dalmiya.
“We feel it will give new leasing life to state sports people.” The last taxi hosted the T20i match against New Zealand in November last year in a bio-safe environment with 70 percent of attendance.
“This time too, the taxi believes that it will succeed in hosting three T20i against West Indies in the same way,” Dalmiya added.
In accordance with the original equipment, West Indies is scheduled to play three ODIs in Ahmedabad, Jaipur and Kolkata and three T20i in Cuttack, Visakhapatnam, Thiruvananthapuram.
But due to the increasing case of Covid-19, BCCI decided to hold a white ball series in two places Ahmedabad and Kolkata.
