Kolkata: The West Bengal Pollution Control Agency (WBPCB) has announced a ban on blankets in fireworks except green during the night of Puja, Chhath, Christmas and New Year.
The council even had the time determined to explode crackers – 8 nights to 10 nights at Diwali, 6am to 8am in Chhat, and from 11.5 hours to 12:30 a.m.
on Christmas and New Year’s Eve.
For the next, law enforcement agencies can demand anyone to save, carry or sell or explode conventional fireworks.
The decision has been taken considering the fact that the rupture of crackers releases hazardous chemicals, which have a severe impact on the health of vulnerable groups and the fact that the pollutant worsens the health conditions of people who are positively covid.
The latest assessment of air quality throughout Bengal has also been considered, orders for reading WBPCB.
In Bengal, there has been a comprehensive urge about the aspects of pollution caused by firecrackers, thanks to the order of the 1996 landmark Judge Bhagawati Prasad Banerjee.
However, low decibels, colorful fireworks emit a large number of toxic gases.
Thus, this is the first order which clearly prohibits all conventional fireworks.
Green crackers are fireworks without chemicals such as lithium, barium, tin and arsenic.
They produce emissions of 30% -35% less than conventional fireworks.
Green crackers can be identified by scanning QR code in the box using the Cellular Neer application.
The container must mention all the ingredients used in crackers.
The order clearly said: “Previous permission from the District Judge / Police Commissioner / SPS must be asked for the use of green crackers for a limited period (no more than two hours) in the state.” According to the Secretary of the WBPCB member Roshni Sen, the order is in accordance with the Supreme Court’s assessment in 2018 and the National Green Tribunal Order 2020.
However, environmental activists say green crackers are Oxymoron.
“With the guise of green crackers, conventional crackers will flood the market.
Who will check whether the cracker is green or not? Isn’t green crackers emitting smoke? Surely they do.
High decibel firecrackers, but low decibel fireworks are much more dangerous,” Green said Crusader Subhas Datta.
Earlier this month, the Supreme Court said that with the guise of green crackers, prohibited articles were used by Firecracker manufacturers and confirmed that the previous Order that prohibits crackers must be fulfilled by every country.
“Our orders must be fulfilled.
This is not a question about one content or something else.
It is sold openly on the market and is used by people.
We want to know their acquaintances available on the market if the prohibition is there?” Bench said.
