Washington: A total of 9.6 million doses of Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine are being sent by the United States to Pakistan through the global vaccine sharing initiative, said a media report on Friday.
The American Embassy in Islamabad said that this latest donation brought a total dose of Covid-19 vaccine which was contributed by Washington to Pakistan to more than 25 million doses, American voices (VOA) reported.
The US collected D’Affaires Angela Aggeler, the United States is proud to partner with Pakistan to get a fragrant Pfizer vaccination in life into the hug of the people of Pakistan.
“This donation comes just in time for Young Pakistan over the age of 12 to get their first jab,” Aggeler added.
This donation comes at the time of Covid-19 infection reduced in Pakistan, with less than 1,000 new daily cases reported on average.
Last week, Pakistonnment has stimulated restrictions on public movements, education and business activities.
According to government data, Pakistan has so far reported 1,262,771 confirmed infection cases, and 28,228 deaths related to Covid-19.
On Friday, officials reported that more than 95 million doses had been given in the country, including around 1 million in the last 24 hours.
The national vaccination drive was launched in February.
Pakistan largely depends on the Chinese vaccine.
However, in recent months, US donations help officials overcomes the lack of western-developed anti-Koronavirus shots, VOA reported.
“This PFIZER vaccine is part of the 500 million doses of Pfizer United States who bought this summer to be sent to 92 countries around the world, including Pakistan, to fulfill the commitment of the President [Joe] Biden to provide a safe and effective vaccine throughout the world and accelerate The global battle of pandemics, “said the US Embassy in his statement.
