West Bengal Government Project to Check Dropout Rates

Kolkata: The Bengal government launched a new project entitled ‘Paray Shikshalaya’ to bridge the two-year learning gap and reduce the dropout rate.
Minister of Education Bratya Basu will inaugurate the project on Monday.
Class IX to XII has been reopened twice during a pandemic but around 80 lakh students in the primary part have not entered the school, resulting in a rise in the dropout rate in the section.
According to the annual financial statements (Aser) 2020, the dropout rate in Bengal decreased from 3.3% to 1.5% in 2019 while up to 4% to 5.5% at the national level.
Paray Shikshalaya is a community-based learning system for basic level students.
The main goal is to provide learning support with pleasant open assembly with classroom experience.
This project will begin from February.
“The Expert Committee will prepare structured academic material for the project for children from the age group 5-9 years,” said an official.
