New Delhi: The European Union (EU) on July 1 launched a Covid EU (EUDCC) digital certificate, also known as ‘green passport’.
Pass allows intra-European trips to havesle free to visitors who have taken one of the four Covid-19 vaccines approved by the European Medicine Agency (EMA).
Until now, only Pfizer-Bionontech, Modera, AstraZeneca, and Johnson & Johnson have been recognized by EMA.
While the list leaves Covishield or Covaxin India, the first is now eligible for traveling in Austria, Germany, Slovenia, Greece, Ireland, Spain, Iceland and Switzerland.
Previously, India said that it would only recognize EUDCC with a reciprocal base.
What is EUDCC? Eudcc was specifically made to restore freedom of travel, which was previously limited due to Covid-19 pandemic.
Block defines the certificate as “digital evidence that someone has been vaccinated against Covid-19, accepting negative test results, or recovering from the virus.” This certificate applies in all EU countries.
What should India say about it? During the G20 Foreign Minister’s Conference, India’s Minister of External Affairs, Jaishankar registered dissent in his meeting with European colleagues.
Children continents have requested a group of 27-nation to consider covishield and covaxin with the ‘Green Passport’ scheme.
A source told PTI, “We have also conveyed to EU members stating that India will institutionalize reciprocal policies for recognition of Covid Digital EU certificates.” The source described further, “After the notification of Covishield and Covaxin to be included in the Covid Digital EU certificate and the recognition of the Cowin Indian vaccination certificate, India’s health authority will reciprocally free the state of the EU member concerned for the release of quarantine, all the people are brought Everyone.
Covid Digital EU certificate.
“However, India Institute CEO (SII) India Adar Poonawalla believes it will receive approval from EMA for Covishield in a month.
Meanwhile, Covaxin failed to receive approval because it was not recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO) for a list of emergency use.
The European Union took the problem in his defense, the EU stated that it did not accept the application of the Approval Search from Bharat Biotech or SII.
The block will check the request when it is received, according to the procedure.
Officials have also clarified that EMA was only associated with vaccination tests, and had nothing to do with the decision regarding intra-European trips.
“EMA is really true in asking us to register, which we have through AstraZeneca, our partners, a month ago, and the process must take time.
Even the UK Mhra, who took time and we have applied for EMA,” said CEO Poonawala SII During the Global Forum India 2021 in June.
“It’s not controversy, it’s just fascinated by the proportion and problem of vaccine passport must be based on reciprocity between countries.”
