Bengaluru / MySuru: Under a fierce attack from Congress on handling the case of Mysuru Gang-Rape where an MBA student was sexually attacked by six people in August, CM Bommai Basilvaraj on Wednesday said the death penalty would be sought by charges.
Denied the allegations that the government did not act quickly in this case, Bommai told the legislative assembly that congratulations had recorded his statement before the judge in Mysore.
“The police have been serious.
Survivor came to Mysuru and gave his statement on Wednesday,” he said.
We will build waterproof cases: cm “Our police officers constantly come into contact with their parents and persuaded them to allow him to record the statement,” he said.
Replying to a discussion about this problem in the Assembly, CM said the government would argue before the court to “hang the guilty” to send a strong message.
“This is a very serious crime.
I assured the house that the government would build a waterproof case and would not allow the defendant to take advantage of the gap (in an investigation or experiment),” he said.
Mysuru police confirmed that the Survivor statement was recorded under the 164 CRPC section.
Interior Minister Araga Jnanendra said they would appoint a special advocate to accelerate the trial in such cases and asked permission to establish a fast field to deal with cruel crimes.
On August 24, six sexual criminals attacked MBA students near Foothills Chamundi, Mysuru, and attacked his friend’s friend, besides demanding Rs 3 Lakh from them.
During the debate in the Council, the leader of the Congress and former Minister of Main Siddaramaiiah attacked BJP, especially Jnanendra, for taking a case in a proud manner and allapsing that the police registered a case of about 15 hours after the incident.
Bommai denied the allegations of the delay registering the case and referring to the case of the 2013 Manipal Sexual Assault where he was alleged that the police “took longer” to register FIR and take a survivor statement.
