With 21% of Covid DK cases in the city, MCC to tighten the norm

Mangaluru: Even though it has strict supervision on the border between countries in Talapady, Mangaluru City has recorded an average of almost 21% of the Covid-19 Dakthina Kannada case.
The percentage of cases reported from the city increased from 17 to 21, compared to the previous months.
While the district recorded 2,138 cases in the past week, 441 of them came from 60 mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) wards, according to statistics available with the Civic Agency.

Of the 61 cases reported on Saturday, 16 came from Bendor Ward.
Of the 74 cases reported on Friday, 10 came from the South Ward Kunjathbail.
Ward Milagres has recorded 12 out 72 cases on Wednesday.
Only three wards, including Maykal East, South Alapes and Kannur, have not reported cases in the past week.
Although the district has recorded more than 3% of TPR, it only reported 606 cases of violations of Covid-19 in the last seven days.
85,269 cases were booked and Rs 1,03,75,920 was collected as a penalty in the district.
The Mayor of Premanand Shetty told the Toi that the city had witnessed irregularities in enforcing Covid rules.
“MCC officials continue to pay spot visits and do drives to enforce masks and social distance norms in public places.
