New Delhi: A total of 28,000 samples will be collected for Seventh Covid Serosurvey, making it the biggest exercise in the national capital who seeks to determine the prevalence of antibodies between Populaca, Health Minister Delhi Satyendar Jain said on Saturday.
The survey took place on September 24.
According to sources, vaccination history will be collected from the survey participants.
The large segment of the city population has received a dose of anti-Koronavirus vaccine.
The previous survey was conducted a few months ago when Delhi staggered under the second wave of brutal pandemic.
Jain on Saturday told reporters that a total of 28,000 samples would be collected as part of the seventh round of the serological survey.
“Delhi has 272 city wards, plus eight under the Delhi Cantonment Board.
From each of these wards, 100 samples will be collected.
So, so far this is the biggest exercise,” he said.
Samples will be collected in a week.
It will take another week to prepare the report, Jain added.
Delhi has more than 2 crore populations spread across 11 districts.
According to Delhi vaccination bulletin issued on Friday, more than 1.67 crore doses have been given to date and it covers more than 1.1 crore first doses and more than 51 second doses of lakh.
The fifth serosurvey has found that the prevalence of Coronavirus antibodies is more than 50 percent.
According to experts, the herd immunity is said to have been developed in population segments if 50-60 percent found to have anti-body in serosurvey.
The first Sero-Prevalence survey was conducted last year from June 27 to July 10 by the Delhi Government in relation to the National Disease Control Center, has used 21,387 samples and found that around 23 percent of people surveyed had exposure to the Coronavirus novel.
Exercise in August 2020 showed 29.1 percent of people had Coronavirus antibodies.
In September and October surveys last year, these numbers reached 25.1 percent and 25.5 percent respectively.
Exercise has been carried out for a comprehensive assessment of the Covid-19 situation in Delhi and to formulate a strategy based on its findings.
