With 862 cases, covid inches close to the top of the second wave

Vadodara: The city and the district witnessed a large surge in the case of Covid-19 with 862 new cases registered on Wednesday.
New cases listed in a day are now the same as May 20 last year.
Newly registered cases of 10,770 tests conducted in the city and district within 24 hours ended on Wednesday night.
New cases reported from Jetalpur, Bajwa, Varasiya, Diwalipura, Savad, Gotri, Chhani, Yamuna Mill, Tandalja, Sama, Akota, Harni, Sudamapuri, Fatehpura, Ramdevnagar, Manjalpur, Bapod and Waghodiya.
The North Zone reported the highest number of new cases at 211.
This was followed by the West Zone with 203 positive cases.
So far, the highest number of cases in the city was reported from the western zone of the South and East City reported 185 and 177 cases.
85 new cases reported from rural areas of the district outside the city limits.
The total number of Covid-19 cases reported in the city and district is now standing at 76,377.
From 73.003 this has been discarded including 231 on Wednesday.
Without new deaths confirmed, the total number of deaths remained in 623.
The city and district have 2,711 active cases now.
This includes 157 hospitalized and 2,554 in house isolation.
157 Inpatient cases include eight on the ventilator or bipap machine.
Eighteen others in an icus without ventilation devices and 62 are on oxygen support without intensive care.
