Nagpur: In his first initiative, young thoughts will regret and present a proposal to curb pollution.
The best research and development proposals will go to the Ministry of Environment of the Union and the Department of Science and technology to formulate policies.
Endeavour has been taken by the National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEEI) under the Guidance of Director Vaidya.
According to information, students from various backgrounds such as engineering, medical and trade will exchange ideas to develop a road map to mitigate sound pollution.
The recent meeting was held between the Senior Neer and Academic Officials from the Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT), Laxminaray Institute of Technology (LIT), GH Raisoni College of Engineering, RamdeoBaba College of Engineering and Management, Priyadarshini College of Engineering and several other institutions To discuss the action to control the decibel level.
NGO member Jan Aakrosh was also present in the discussion.
The press release issued by the neeri states that the strategy includes the oppression of noise in the source, control at the end of the recipient and ensuring mass awareness.
“Proposals and new ideas will be invited from students through the institute’s representatives.
The best proposals containing effective noise control strategies and innovative approaches will be sent to the Department of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Environment for approval,” the release added.
Officials told TII that the selected proposal could receive funds from the government for its implementation.
“This is a golden opportunity for students to take part in policy making through the intervention of science and technology.
The focus will find a solution to mitigate pollution.
In the meeting, it is a round opinion that students are innovative and will produce effective strategies,” they said.
After being approved, scientists, faculties and students from these institutions will work together for the implementation of the proposed ideas.
Senior Principal Scientists and Head of Waste Water Division in Neer Ritesh Vijay, who have carried out various studies related to noise pollution, the findings highlighted from the noise mapping analysis carried out in 27 cities throughout the state.
“We have found that the horn continues to be the main source of noise pollution in urban areas.
Because we cannot control the increasing number of vehicles, reducing the horn is the only practical way to curb voice pollution,” Vijay said.
To disseminate awareness of the adverse effects of the horn on the environment and public health, neeri along with vnit, lights up, and other technical colleges will observe ‘without honking day’ on the third day every month.
