Mangaluru: The shortcomings of postgraduate doctors right when the Covid-19 case increased rapidly, having a worried hospital that is now burdened with the staff crisis.
The PG-Neet counseling will begin in a few days and this PG doctor will report to the hospital around February-end.
Another problem that the hospital can be faced in the next few months is a graduate doctor that occurred on leave two months before their final exam in April.
Medical colleges have asked the doctor not to take leave two months before the exam because it will flood the hospital that has tense staff.
Added to these two challenges is the number of postgraduate doctors who tested Covid-positive daily.
“The PGS we serve in three large hospitals.
The existing PGS is under extraordinary pressure because there is a delay in the arrival of the first year for almost eight months.
The workload is now balanced with the help of internship MBBS.
All health care facilities are burdened.
The only one The blessing is that even though there are many cases, the inpatient ratio is lower than the first and second waves.
However, we are worried about what will happen in the coming days when cases peak, “said Dr.
B Unnikrishnan, Dean of Kastba Medical College, say.
College takes 1230 post-graduates every year.
Dr.
Unnikrishnan said two to three positive postgraduate internship tests almost every day.
“PGS that works for hours without much rest and is testing positive because the new variant spreads faster.
We have to isolate and quarantine the PGS.
As a result, the workforce has shrunk,” said Dr.
Antony Sylvan d’Souza, Dean of Father Muller Medical College .
Dr.
Antony also showed that because the hospital system choked and the workforce was stressed, universities had asked post-graduates last year not to take leave but continue to work.
“Going, EN-MASSE leave will really tear down the system.
PGS has approved our request,” he said.
Medical Colleges expects the latest fresh PGS arrival in the first week of March.
