Shivamogga: A woman jumped to Bhadra’s canal with her two daughters on Friday, allegedly disturbed by comments made by a partner to whom she lent money.
While he and his 7-year-old daughter died, another daughter, a one-year-old baby, still disappeared.
The deceased is Veena, 32, and Johnivi, 7.
Veena’s body was found in Yakangahalli in Honnali and the Body of Johnavi restored in Nalluru Channagiri Village, both in Davanagere Taluk.
Police and firefighters seek Devika’s baby, who was feared dead.
The family has celebrated Devika’s birthday just a few days ago.
Veena married Santosh Kumar, a resident of Yedehalli in Bhadravati Taluk.
They have money for couples from Arahatolalu Village for business purposes.
When Veena asked them to pay money, the couple refused.
He met a couple on Thursday, when they allegedly harassed him and tried to tarnish his image.
Veena, who was humiliated, went home and told her husband that she would go to Devarahosahalli, her parents’ village, on Friday.
Shortly after, he called him from Hanchina Siddapura and said that he would commit suicide.
According to the police, he tried to calm him down but it didn’t work.
After a while the cellphone was turned off.
Her husband contacted Veena’s father and they rushed to Hanchina Siddapura where they found her bag on the edge of the canal.
Based on the suicide record found in the bag, the police have registered a case at the Holeonnuru Police Station in the Shivamogga District.
BM Police Supervisor BM Laxmi Prasad said that they had detained two people to be questioned.
