Dharwad: Road construction on the bridge (Rob) near the Kalyan Nagar train gate in Dharwad will begin with the Prahlad Union Minister Joshi conducts pooja Bhomi today.
The cost for the construction of Rob is estimated at Rs 13.79 Crore and has been approved on the basis of sharing costs with the Government of Karnataka.
Rob’s construction was solved completed in December 2022.
Joshi had inaugurated a re-development work at the Dharwad train station in 2018, but there was no progress in Rob’s construction.
The train gate connects Kalyan Nagar, Danu Nagar, ATTIKOLLA and RAMNAGAR to the night and station road and thousands of people and vehicles pass through this gate every day.
There is a long-delayed request from the public for the construction of Rob as the closure of the train gate which often causes great discomfort to people who move towards and from Kalyan Nagar.
In 2017, the Railway Ministry has announced in the allocation of budget funds for the construction of bridges / underpasses near the Kalyan Nagar train gate with motorists that the local body or state government must contribute 50% of the cost.
In June 2018, the Dharwad train station was chosen for the construction of another round.
It was between 68 stations in the country chosen for renovation.
However, the Government of Congress-JD (s) the government remained indifferent to the proposal and share of the state government was not released.
