Thane: After worms were found stretching in the Chikki package distributed to Thane Municipal School students, the Ministry of Education has launched the probe.
Sachin Shinde, unit spokesman Thane Congress, said they were approached by a student’s family earlier this week.
“They showed us the videos they fired from worms crawling in the chikki package given to their children.
The family, however, refused to be identified, fear of counterattack,” he said.
Pune-based agencies are appointed to provide chikki packages every day to nearly 30,000 students studying in 300-plus civil schools in Thane and suburbs.
The President of the Congress of Vikrant Chavan said he had raised the alleged problem of irregularities in a fixed committee meeting on Wednesday, including non-hygienic conditions and financial differences.
The chairman of the education committee, Yogesh Jankar said an investigation report would likely be immediately submitted.
“We have suspended while the distribution of packages to students,” he said.
