Dubai: The Houthi Movement which is in line with Iran Yemen said on Saturday that the authorities had executed nine people who were convicted of involvement in the murder of 2018 in Saleh al-Samad, then the top civilian leader of armed groups.
Samad, who holds the position of President in the government-controlled Houthi who runs most of the North Yemen, died in April 2018 by a Saudi coalition air strike in the port city of Hodidah on the west coast of Yemen.
He is the most senior official who will be killed by a coalition in the year-long war where Houthis fought loyal forces to internationally recognized government based in the southern port city of Aden.
The government is supported by the Saudi LED coalition that has received support from Western forces.
Saudi Arabia and most of the Bay of Arabic Allege Houthi are proxies for their Iranian rivals, something group and Tehran deny.
Houthimal authorities said nine men were charged and convicted of their involvement in Samad’s murder, including spying and sharing sensitive information with the Saudi LED coalition.
Houthis said the execution by the shooting squad was witnessed by “masses”, including blood relatives and Houthi leaders in the capital Sanaa, which they control.
