Google YouTube video streaming platform is testing features that allow users to download videos using a desktop browser.
YouTube allows premium members to use any advertising platform and also allow members to try new features that the company is working on.
The new download feature test is only available until October 19.
You can also check what the next company tested on the Youtube Experimental Feature page.
Users with YouTube Premium membership can access new features in the latest version of the Chrome browser, EDGE or OPERA.
To download any video, the user can click the ‘Download’ button while watching the video or click on the 3-dot menu when browsing.
Videos will be available for download in 4 resolutions – 1080p, 720p, 480p and 144P.
Downloaded videos will not be available on hard-disks forever, users will only get the video version cached.
Users will be able to see the downloaded offline video and will be available as long as the device is connected to the internet at least every 30 days.
The YouTube application on the Play Store and the App Store already has download options available for some time now.
Along with the new download features, YouTube also tests the image-in-picture (PIP) application for iOS.
This allows iPhone users to watch videos in a miniplayer when users swipe or press the Home button while watching the video.
According to the company, locking the screen when watching on a pip will pause the video and the user can continue the video using the key screen media control.
PIP features will also be available for testing to Premium YouTube members until October 31.
Until now, youtube videos can only be downloaded from browsers using third-party websites and applications.
