BELOGIVAVI: Karnataka Police enroll 11 cases related to Cryptocurrency fraud in the last three years and this includes two hackers involving Srikrishna Ramesh aka sriki.
In response to the question by the MLC UB Venkatesh Congress, Interior Minister Araga Jnanendra on Thursday said the police were investigating them and scale fraud had not been established.
Jnanendra, however, said the police have so far recovered only Rs 29 lakh in nine cases, claimed by fraudsters have invested in Bitcoin or made investors believe they will invest in bitcoin.
The total value of nine cases is claimed to be the FIRS at RS 2 Crore.
According to the Minister of Home Affairs, the defendant in at least three cases fled while the case had been submitted in the rest.
When questioned about the involvement of the police in cases related to sriki, Jnanendra rejected all charges and said the police had done their duties.
“There is no scam but only fraud,” he said.
Not satisfied with his response, the Congress legislator asked the Chairman of the Basavaraj Horatti Board to have a detailed discussion on this issue and asked the SR Patil opposition leader to provide a written request.
Congress has demanded a probe into the Bitcoin scandal involving sriki, allegating that the BJP government has reciprocated to protecting several politicians.
“This is a multi-country investigation and truth must come out.
The government colluded or worked diligently in the investigation,” Secretary General AICC Randeep Surjewala has accused.
Sriki was arrested on November 6 in the case of the Brawl Hotel and released on a guarantee.
His father, Gopal Ramesh, has transferred the Karnataka High Court in February, looking for the transfer of all cases against his son to the CBI.
