Prayagraj: With the aim of providing cash to train passengers, the Prayagraj division of Central Central Railways (NCR) has begun the process of installing 47 automatic teller machines (ATMs) at 23 division stations.
The authorities have floated the tender and in the next two months, the whole process will be completed.
At present, only seven ATMs function at different train stations under the Prayagraj division.
With 47 ATMs that have just arrived at 23 stations across the division, more than 50 ATMs will provide cash to train passengers.
Among the stations, where the ATM will be installed including seven in Junction Prayagraj, eleven in Kanpur Central, four in Subedganj, two at Kanpur Anwargaj, Mirzapur, Fatehpur, Etawa and the algrah.
In addition, the ATM will also be installed at stations such as Chunaar, Vindhyachal, Prayagraj Choeki, Bamrauli, Hathras, Firozabad, Tuntla, Khurja and Dadri.
The decision to install more ATMs at several main stations and minor divisions have significance because often train passengers need cash during their trip.
Needs felt especially during the last 20 months when the entire country was under the grip of the pandemic and a large number of migrant workers first arrived at the station.
“There are examples when these people come from different cities, do not have cash even though they have money in their bank accounts and like many of them are used to ask us to get off near the nearest ATM”, remember Girjashaw backy, the owner of a battery rickshaw , Stand in Junction Prayagraj.
According to Pubic Relation Officer (PRO), the Prayagraj Division, Amit Singh, “The process of installing more ATMs (47 at 23 stations) has begun and immediately 23 division stations will have an ATM that serves them.”
