Dharwad: Rotary club from Seven Hills, Dharwad, with Rotary Bangalore South and Rotary Club of Bangalore Centennial will arrange a free prosthesis camp in Saraswati Niketan starting at 8am to 17:00 on October 24.

Pallavi Deshpande said Tuesday that the rotarian organized the first of its type free camp to help people lose their hands on accident or trauma or disabled by birth.
It is being carried out under the guidance of the Global Ambassador Project Prosthesis Hand LN4 Rotarian Mohan Kumar KV from Bengaluru, he said.
He said prostheses would be given to more than 200 beneficiaries.
Registration for the camp is mandatory and must be done by calling 9880525404.

Pallavi said the prostetic hand of the elbow below was imported from Ellen Meadows Prostetic Hand Foundation, USA.
LN-4 (which was named after Ellen lost his hand in an accident) the most appropriate prosthetic hand to lose the elbow and suitable for all ages over the age of eight years.
Recipients can do a simple daily activity, LN-4 devices according to all recipients and functions as left or right hand.
The LN-4 hand is installed easily with a velcro strap and easily removed by the wearer in a few seconds.
LN-4 hands are strong and, when fitting with the recipient’s arm correctly, it will support more than 4-4.5 kg.

Pallavi said prosthetic hands would help recipients carry out simple but important everyday activities such as holding objects, combing hair, cooking, farming, driving, etc.
“Through this camp, we hope to reach every citizen of the Dharwad and the surrounding district, which requires fake hands.
We will be happy if the number of beneficiaries exceeds 200,” he said.
