Dubai: UK Ukire Michael Gough on Wednesday was withdrawn from the T20 World Cup which was ongoing by ICC after he violated the Bio Bubble tournament a few days ago.
The 41-year-old was placed in isolation six days after he left his hotel without permission on Friday last week to meet people outside the tournament bubble.
“…
Umpire Michael Gough will not be appointed for further matches during the T20 World Cup Male T20 2021 after a violation of the Bio-Security Protocol,” ICC said in a statement.
“The ICC recognizes the period he has spent a long time in bio-safe conditions for the past two years and will continue to support the welfare of all match officials operating in this neighborhood,” he added.
Gough is to lead in the match last Sunday between India and New Zealand in Dubai but was drawn following his violations and was replaced by Marais Erasmus South Africa.
Former Batsman Durham, Gough is considered one of the best referees in the current international cricket.
He is being tested every alternative day during isolation.
