Haveri: Police in the Haveri District has banned benign events because of the restrictions of Covid-19.
Police supervisor Hanumantaraya also said that injury during the benign bull-taming match, called Hori Bedarisuva Sparde, was a problem, regardless of the crowds of several thousand events were interested.
Bull-taming, an ancient rustic game in Karnataka similar to Jallikattu in Tamil Nadu, has vibrant fans.
The bull-taming event was held from after Diwali to Sankranti Makar.
More than 20 injured fans during the Jinam Jinak match were recently held at Basapur.
The district police chief instructed all police stations not to allow Bull’s benign organizers to hold events in their respective jurisdictions.
He said that the checkpoint must be arranged around the village so that the vehicle carrying the Bulls can stop.
“Our staff must prevent them from preparing events and prevents campaigns on social media and bunts and bunings in public places,” he said.
“At present, the covid-19 pandemic restriction applies, so we must avoid collecting thousands of people.
But in benign events, at least 5,000 people gather and in this way the virus transmits easily.
In addition, the game is illegal because this is a violation of Prevention of atrocities on animal laws, 1990, “he said.
“Many accidents occur, causing death and injury.
So, the committee must understand the situation and not regulate the sport that threatens the soul anywhere in the district,” Hanumantara said.
District police chief said that officials would meet with the organizers of benign shows, owners and bull fans immediately.
Deputy Commissioner of Sanjay Shettnenvar and SP will lead the meeting.
“We will beg them and explain the legal consequences of the meeting.
We hope they also understand our worries,” he said.
Bull-taming fans and Bull owners were not happy with the decision.
The Karnataka government has allowed Kamala, a traditional game, in Mangalore with regulations.
Why did the authorities take this decision against the bullets, one of them asked.
