Brisbane: British Skipper Joe Root on Friday broke the record former captain Michael Vaughan after destroying most tests running with English dough in the calendar year.
Root achieved achievements on the third day of the first ash test on Friday.
The England captain has registered a duck in the first round against Australia but in seconds hit 86 which classy did not come out to surpass Vaughan.
In 2002, Vaughan had scored 1481 runs and roots almost destroyed his record when he reached 1477 in 2018.
