Prasagraj: Twenty-two years after establishing, Lone State Open University Up-Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tandon Open University (Uprtou) – now almost get NAAC accreditation.
The achievement will make it the third open university in this country, after Ignou, New Delhi, and Netaji Subhas Open University, West Bengal, to get NAAC accreditation.
The NAAC team will arrive at a three-day physical inspection and a vision visit to the Uprtou Campus, at Phaphamau, on December 15.
NAAC is an autonomous institution of the University Grant (UGC) commission which assesses and accredit the state higher education institution.
“The achievement will make up UPrTou only the third open university of the country after Ignou and Netaji Sub-university open Subhas to get NAAC accreditation,” said Deputy Chancellor Uprtou, Prof.
Seema Singh.
Prof.
Singh further said that on December 15, the team of NAAC colleagues would win inspections in place.
The team will carry out inspections, interactions and assessments at the University for three days between December 15 and December 17.
After a visit, the NAAC team will submit its report to NAAC, which will then provide a final assessment to the University.
Previously, NAAC’s assessment was not needed for the State Open University.
However, after the UGC regulation (open and distance) -2017, which came into force in April 2019, every open university must submit this vital assessment in one year.
However, the duration of time to apply the same, however, extended due to the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic.
This caused UPrTou to start the process to pocket NAAC’s assessment.
This process involves the registration of higher education institutions (Heis) on the official NAAC website, compilation of institutional data and information for institutional information for quality assessment (IIQA) and submission of independent learning reports (SSR), after receipt.
From IIQA (if rejected, educational institutions get two more efforts to continue the process in one year), followed by the process of validation of data and verification, student satisfaction surveys and visiting NAAC colleague teams at the institution, for further verification.
This finally leads to the final value assigned to the institution.
