Jaipur: Pacer Yash Thakur got a breakthrough on time for him for Wicket Haul as Vidarbha defeated Tripura by 34 walking to enter the quarter-finals of the Hazare Vijay trophy here on Sunday.
Vidarbha will now face Saurashtra in the quarter-finals on December 22.
Batting first, Vidarbha riding in half a century by Yash Rathod (57 of 63 balls) and Atharva Taide (51 OFF 58 Balls) to send a decent 258/7 on the board and then divide the opposition to 224 in 49.2 Overs even though 96 runs opening stand up.
But it was Thakur (4/45), which then won three of the goal quickly and harassed the opposition.
Tripura also had two run-out in the process when they slipped to 164/6 at 38.3 overs and never recovered from there.
At first, Vidarbha lost Skipper Faiz Fazal (0) in the second because the side was ready on 1/1.
Then Taide and One-Down Ganesh Satish (40 off 70 balls; 4×4) played responsibly and demanded inning with their 81-run stand.
Taide, who hammered seven limits, was more aggressive even because Satish played the perfect second violin.
But when it looked like the duo would score a big score, Amit Ali (1/42) was trapped in Shapish in front of the goal at 22.
They pecked back Vidarbha by removing Taide which was set well, which was captured by Bikram Kumar Das (61) from Anaher Manikankar Murasingh (2/41).
Vidarbha is in a disturbing place on 104/3.
Then Rathod (5×4) and goalkeeper Akshay Wadkar (41 off 59 balls; 3×4) not only brought back Vidarbha into a dispute but ensuring that their bowler has a total to survive.
The duo added 92 to walk to the fourth goal as they played with Tripura attacks.
Their partnership courtesy, Vidarbha approached a 200-run mark.
But Tripura attacked twice by removing Rathod and Wadkar in sequence when they slipped to 206/5.
Then APOORV Wankhede (26) and Aditya Sarvate (25 did not come out) added 44 Run to the sixth goal in just five overs that helped Vidarbha cross the 250-run mark.
Chasing 259, Tripura left for the beginning with the opening Bishal Ghosh (44) and the watershed added 96 for the first goal.
After Ghosh departed, the former Gujarat Gehil (32) dough joined the watershed, because both added 49 other Run.
But then Thakur attacked quick succession to turn on the match.
Darshan Nkande (3/41) ran through a low order and signaled an unforgettable victory for his side.
