Hubballi: With the intention of saving electricity and money, Hubballi-Dharwad Smart City Limited (HDSCL) has decided to use solar power in its projects.
With a pilot base, the Tollankere Lake environment will be turned on with green energy.
CW Shakeel Ahmed, Managing Director, HDSCL, said, “The solar energy needed for road lights that operate is 6.25 kva.
The solar panel with the same capacity will be installed in the Lake Tolankere and the resulting power will be used for the operation of the street light.
The solar panel will be designed in the form of a butterfly, which is an HDSCL logo.
Praveen, an HDSCL electric engineer, said that there were a total of 170 LED lights in and around Tollankere Lake, where around 100 will be connected to solar energy.
From 7pm to 10 Afternoon solar energy will be used for street lights, after 10pm for high pole lights.
Analyzing the feasibility of the pilot project, green energy will also be used for other projects.
“With solar energy, we can save around Rs 70,000 per year.
The return period for investment starts from the 6th year, “he said.
