Beleagavi Farmers Oppound the Railway Line

Written by news2in

BELAGIVAVI: Farmers in the villages of Bulaysavi have opposed the proposed railway that connects the border district with Dharwad, shows that they will lose fertile land if the project is carried out.
The project was approved when the late Suresh Angadi, then MP for Beleagavi, was the State Union Minister for the train.
In fact, when the project received the central government’s approval, it was filled with excitement by the public, which has demanded a direct train connection between the two districts.
The train line between the two districts is running through Londa, extending the duration of the trip, while the new line is expected to reduce half time.
Farmers in villages where new lines are expected to run, afraid of loss of livelihoods.
On the contrary, farmers in the BELIGAVI section are involved in the planting of rice and other plants, and the acquisition of land for the railway line will leave them without prospects.
Saraswati B, one of the farmers who led agitation, said that the government had to do it to change the proposed railway route, or drop the project at all.
“We will not depend on any cost,” he said.
On January 3, farmers gathered in front of the deputy commissioner’s office, demanding the cancellation of the project.
“The center must resolve this dispute,” Saraswati said.
Farmer Laxman Patel shows that the project will eat it into hundreds of hectares of fertile land.
“How does the state government, who claim to protect farmers, ask them to sacrifice fertile land for this railway line?”
