Gadag: a month after the state government launched its impulse to vaccinate them in the age group 15 to 17 years, Gadag District has managed to manage the first dose of vaccines for everyone in this group – the first in Karnataka to achieve achievement.
Gadag District Health Officer Dr.
Jagadish Nuchin told toi, “his response is lukewarm since teenagers and their parents worried about taking Jab, afraid of complications.” The bad response to the drive encourages the district health department to regulate many conscious campaigns, which require teachers who offer counseling to children, and help eliminate their fears to take Jab.
“We also eliminate concerns about problems that might arise from taking vaccinations.
Gradually, fears disappeared among middle school children and pre-university students, all of which began troops to the camp to receive the first dose of vaccines,” said Dr.
Nuchin.
The team formed consisted of primary health center employees to raise awareness among children and their parents for the benefits of taking vaccines at grassroots.
“They are entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring that all children in the age group prescribed are given the first jab in all villages.
We also involve Asha workers on the way,” Dho said.
Every Asha worker was assigned to cover 200 households in each village, while workers in urban areas were asked to visit high school and college to encourage children to get Jab, said Dr.
Nuchin.
“We also prepare a list of children who drop out of school, or work in the fields, or are transferred.
We obtain approval from parents to investigate children.
All of these steps help us vaccinate 55,735 children in the age group 15-17 in the range of four to Five weeks, “he added.
Trailing Gadag District in adolescent inoculation in group 15-17 is Kodagu, which has reached 98% of its target, while Uttara Kannada has managed to manage the first dose to 84% of those in the age group and in Bagalkot, 82% of those in the age group specified is vaccinated.
“Shivamogga, Haveri, Mandya, Dharwad and the Vijayapura district are also closer to 100% coverage, and will reach the target in the next few days,” said a source.
Health Minister K Sudhakar praised Gadag officials for their achievements on Twitter.
