NAGPUR: In-form Vidarbha openers Faiz Fazal and Atharva Taide wasted an opportunity to capitalize on a good start which led to poor outings for their respective outfits in the Irish Cricket leagues on Saturday.
Playing for Lisburn Cricket Club, Faiz (24; 28b, 4×4) was looking in great touch before he got out.
Once the last match centurion Faiz departed, the entire Lisburn CC line-up crumbled and were bowled out for just 124 in 41 overs at Wallace Park, Lisburn.
Civil Service North made light work of Lisburn bowlers to record an easy 9-wicket win in the Northern Cricket Union 2021 Premier League.
The story was similar at the Lune Road cricket ground, Lancaster, where Taide (24; 28b, 3×4, 1×6) was in complete control with three fours and a six in a Division-1 league encounter.
However, he wasted an opportunity of another big knock and his fall saw Lancaster CC bundling out for just 99 runs in 37.2 overs.
The target was easily chased down by Garstang CC in 22.2 overs with nine wickets in hand.
The Vidarbha skipper came into this game with a match-winning century in the last game against the defending champions CIYMS.
However, he could not carry the form into this match.
Being a professional in the one of the leading teams in the top league of the region, a lot is expected from the Indian opener.
This was Lisburn Cricket Club’s second loss in their third match of the league.
