Prasagraj: Class XII students from top will no longer learn the works of Litterateur Rabindranath Tagore and former President of India, Dr.
S Radhakrishnan in this academic subject.
The reason is that Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP), has implemented the NCERT syllabus for English in class X and XII since this year.
Due to the implementation of a new syllabus, a story like ‘The Home Comes’, was written by Rabindranath Tagore and the essay of ‘female education’ by S Radhakrishnan, no longer part of the course curriculum.
In addition, Al Basham ‘The Heritage of India’ has also been removed.
In the same line, famous poets such as John Milton and PB Shelley will also be excluded from English textbooks and so on will be a story titled, ‘Astrologer Day’, written by RK Narouanan and ‘The Lost Child’ by Mulk Raj Anand.
A poem was written by the ‘Nightingale of India’ Sarojini Naidu, titled ‘The Village Song’, which is part of the syllabus in class X and the works of C Rajagopalachari, WM Raeburn and R Srinivasan have failed to find a place in class X courses.
Although council officials were reluctant to comment on changes because they had not been installed on the official website up, senior officials confirmed this change for reasons received from the state government.
“In the next few days itself, the new curriculum will be online,” said one of these senior officials.
The sources informed that now the NCERT syllabus will be implemented, students need to study a large number of books.
Previously, there were four books other than the grammar course in class XII while there were only two books, ‘Flamingo’ and ‘Vistas’ in English.
Likewise, in class X, there will be two books with the name ‘first flight’ and ‘footy footprints’.
In accordance with the new syllabus, students in class XII will study the works of Anees Jung, William Douglas and Louis Fischer.
In poetry, students will learn poems by famous poets such as Kamala Das, Pablo Neruda and John Keats.
In class X, students will learn to work by the revolutionary anti-apartheid president and former African President, Nelson Mandela, author of N Frank and Russian writer Anton Chekhov.
Famous poets such as Robert Frost, Walt Whitman and William Butler Yeats will also be part of the poetry syllabus.
The top flight in the last three years has introduced NCert-Sillabus-based books for 26 subjects in high school and medium.
It has introduced 31 books from 18 different subjects based on the NCert syllabus for class IX students to class XII from the 2018-19 academic session.
