GROS ISLET (ST. LUCIA): The West Indies team has been made to stop its red-ball coaching camp this weekend following Jamaican pacer Marquino Mindley tested positive for COVID-19.

The 26-year-old returned favorable for COVID within his next evaluation.

“After PCR Tests handled on Friday 21 May for several members of the West Indies guys’s red basketball coaching camp being held in St Lucia, Jamaican fast bowler, Marquino Mindley, tested positive on his next COVID-19 evaluation,” Cricket West Indies mentioned in a statement on Sunday.

Mindley is asymptomatic and can self-isolate till he yields two adverse test results.

“In compliance with the health care protocols based on all the St. Lucian Ministry of Health, Mindley, who’s currently curable, will currently self-isolate within his hotel room under the oversight of their Cricket West Indies (CWI) Medical Team till he yields two back-to-back side effects,” the announcement read.

All players also supports employees have returned damaging about being re-tested. However, training was cancelled for the weekend.

“All additional members of their coaching team and training group were re-tested and dispersed within their chambers, together with coaching for the weekend.

“Every one of those training team members and training staff members have tested negative after their replicate evaluations and the group will train in little groups beginning on Monday 24 May, in the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground.”

Even the West Indies red-ball coaching camp has been held at a bio-secure environment before the ICC World Test Championship two-match Series from South Africa, scheduled to begin on June 10.

Before this past week, CWI had obtained 13 members of the West Indies red-ball group, involving gamers and support team, vaccinated.

“CWI proceeds to use the regional authorities and CARPHA to promote and help all members to have vaccinated. Up to now, 43 members of West Indies guys’s playing and training team have obtained maternity doses.”
