New Delhi: BCCI has invited job applications for the head of cricket at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, the role currently carried out by former Indian captain Rahul Dravid.
Dravid, who has played an important role in creating the rich strength of Indian bench, was appointed as head of Cricket in July 2019 after he worked widely with junior players as an Indian U-19 and a coach.
Two years the contract has ended and according to the protocol, BCCI has invited applications.
Dravid is likely to re-register for a two-year extension.
The last date for the application is August 15 (up to 11.59 nights).
“Rahul Dravid can submit a re-appointment for the position but with the term of office Ravi Shastri ended in November 2021 after T20 WC, there is every possibility of rahul lifted to the head of the coach.
In essence, he remains very part of the system,” a BCCI.
The source told PTI.
Dravid recently went to Sri Lanka as head coach of an Indian Overs forces which was limited to the test team in the UK at the same time.
After the conclusion of six matches in Sri Lanka, he was asked whether he wanted to become a long-term Indian head coach, but he did not commit to the high subjects.
“I haven’t really thought anything in front, to be honest.
I enjoy doing what I do,” he said.
The current age limit is set for the head coach is 60 years, such as the role of the head of the NCA, and Shastri aged 59 years in May.
Dravid might enter the picture if India doesn’t do it well at the T20 World Cup.
India has not won a large event under Kohli and Shastri partnerships but has been well done as a side of the test, highlighted with two draws away in Australia.
