Colombo: The entire first team of Sri Lanka, including a senior player with a perera, Dushmantha Chameera and Dhananjaya de Silva, all of them have returned negatively in their latest RT-PCR tests ahead of the Indian Overs series.
The test was carried out by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC).
Now it is expected that players will be allowed to enter Bio-Bubble on Monday because they finish the hard quarantine for one week after their arrival from England.
After Batting Coach Grant Flower and Data Analyst G T Niroshan, along with other players in separate bio-bubble, tested positive Covid-19, series which was originally scheduled to start on July 13 was pushed back five days.
“Usually, when we get positive results we announced.
There is another round of the RT-PCR test conducted yesterday and the results should come today.
We only get the results if there is a positive case,” the source in SLC told PTI.
“Because we have not received a positive report, which we usually accept in the middle of the day, can be thought that all players have been tested negatively,” he added.
As far as the travel plan, it can be understood that the Sri Lankan team will train in Khettarama (R Premadasa Stadium) here, because Indians practice in Singhalese Sports Club Ground (SSC).
“If everything goes well, the UK returned player will be able to get out of their hard quarantine (room insulation) and enter bio-bubbles.
Strong testing is expected to continue according to the norm (every third day or fifth),” he told him.
Once the players enter Bio-Bubble, they can at least meet each other in their room and also start using gymnasium in staggering ways.
Training sessions and outside skills (clean practice) are also expected to begin in the next 48 hours.
Asked about the health status of Batting Coach Flower and Niroshan analyst, both of them had tested positively back from England, the source said that there was no damage in their health or medical parameters.
“Grants and Niroshan are in isolation facilities according to the protocol.
Both are asymptomatic and fine at this time.
There is no health setback according to our knowledge.
They will complete the isolation period set,” he said.
The official was sure that there would be no previous hiccup before the opening ODI on July 18.
