Dharwad: BJP is set to claim power to the Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) Board, and the Corporator of the Safron Party now lobby for the Mayor’s post.
The mayor’s post has been provided for candidates from the OBC ‘A’ category this year.
However, the Saffron party does not have a candidate who qualifies for representatives of the mayor’s post, which has been provided for a woman from the Scheduled Castle Community (SC).
As a result, the Safron Party has seduced independently according to the bill for posting.
BJP pocketed 39 seats at membership homes 82, and despite failing half a sign – 42 – the Safron Party, with three MLCs, two MLC and MP, all of which have voting rights in majoral polls, comfortably placed to pocket the top post.
BJP also tends to get support from three rebels, and JD (s) solitary corporators at home.
Congress, on the other hand, seems to have given hope to power in the HDMC Board.
Congress won 33 seats, besides having one MLA and MLC which can choose in the election of the mayor.
And even if the party managed to secure support from three independent Aimim and six companies, the party would not be able to match the power of BJP.
Of the 82 Corporators chosen to the HDMC Board, 67 have won the poll for the first time.
Shivu Hiratha, Veeranna Savadi and Tipna’s wife Majjagi Ashwini is one of the former mayors chosen to the HDMC Board.
At BJP, Satish Hanagal, Umeshgouda Koujageri and Rajanna Koravi who have been re-elected, and hopes for party leadership to point them to the Mayor’s post.
Of the 39 mayors that the HDMC Board has up to now, most of them come from Hubballi, many with disappointed leaders and residents of the city of Dharwad.
It has breeded a lot of hatred among the population of Dharwad, who felt that Hubballi had been liked unfairly in terms of development projects carried out in twin cities.
In such circumstances, BJP is likely to choose the Dharwad corporate for the mayor’s post.
IResh AnchataGeri and Vijayanand Shetty are two BJP companies from Dharwad who are entitled to be nominated for post Mayor posts this year, and they will like their chances of getting a party leadership nodding for the top position on the HDMC Board.
The State Election Commission is expected to notify the names of newly elected corporators, after the government will issue a notification for the Mayor’s poll.
