Chitradurga: A man has filed a complaint to the Hosadurga police in Chitradurga against his father-in-law and other relatives for alleged forcing him to enter Christianity.
Marappa, 24, from Budga Jangam Colony at Aravind Nagar near the Hospet accused him that he was not allowed to see his newborn baby and his wife.
He claimed that he was threatened, squeezed and attacked by his wife’s family member to enter Christianity.
The defendant was Vasanthkumar, his father-in-law, Ramachandrappa, his wife’s grandfather, Relatant Sudhakar, Manjunath, Sankappa.
This case again triggered a debate about alleged religious conversion in the region.
In his complaint, Marappa said on July 6, 2020 while getting married, he was forced to swim in the holy water and stated that he had now entered Christianity.
The allegations were allegedly torn and burned photos of Hindu gods, asked him not to worship them.
“My wife Sarala and her parents practiced Christianity for the past 5-6 years.
Before getting married, they were forcibly made me take holy sauce.
They made me marry Sarala on July 6, 2020 according to Christian habits.
My family did not believe in religion Christian and a month, we returned to the Hindu fold.
My father also told my wife to leave Christianity and return home within three months.
But his father did not allow him to return to Hinduism, “he was told Toi.
The defendant was thought to tell him that the Hindu goddess was only “evil” and that he would go to hell if he worshiped them.
He had sent his wife during pregnancy to his parents’ house on December 2, 2021.
He came to know about a newborn baby from others, he claimed.
When he, with his brothers, went to meet the child on January 18, the defendant harassed and attacked them, said the police.
